The existing school is set back from the street. The immediate environment of the site is somewhat harsh,
especially the heavily trafficked street which is a route linking the city to the motorways to the south
and west of the country. However, the general grittiness is alleviated by mature horse chestnut and
sycamore trees which line the western edge of the site, and these from the outset became a part of the
making of the plan.
